Sammi, Izzie, and Catitlyn Tenhundfeld are seen by their peers as the ultimate trio. Sammi Tenhundfeld’s fun fact has always been that she is a triplet. However, there is more to her than her built- in best friends.
Spending a lot of time together, Sammi said that their sisterhood is strong.
Apart from her sisters, Sammi is uniquely herself and is defined as “being her own person.”
“We all have very different personalities,” Sammi told Spark.
Having individual characteristics, Sammi enjoys many activities and hobbies.
“I really enjoy baking,” said Sammi. “That’s always been my thing. I’m a little bit more crafty.”
Another favorite pastime Sammi enjoys is listening to music.
“I listen to mostly Gracie Abrams, I love her,” said Sammi.
Sammi said her favorite movies and shows, like Tangled and Criminal Minds, are also a small slice of her.
Noting their individuality, Sammi says that she and her sisters all look different as well.
Sammi said that, unlike triplet stereotypes in movies would suggest, they have never switched places, and they “don’t look enough alike to actually do that.”
“We are fraternal,” said Sammi. “You can tell we are siblings but I feel like you would not just be able to guess we are triplets.”
Among the three, she has long blonde hair and is the shortest of her triplets at 5’6’’.
“We all have different styles,” said Sammi. “I pretty much wear jeans and a sweater or a hoodie.”
She often wears comfy clothes and her style resembles a “clean girl aesthetic.”
Although she can be seen wearing a ponytail, her signature hairstyle is when her hair is straightened.
At school, Sammi says her personality is more reserved and quiet, but at home she is “loud, excited, and talkative,” being the outgoing one out of her sisters.

Sammi says that the fact that she and her sisters have been together since birth has lead them to be very connected.
“A lot of the time, even to me, it doesn’t feel like we’re triplets, it’ll just feel like siblings,” said Sammi. “we are also so close, it’s also like best friends.”
With her sisters, she enjoys shopping, going to get coffee together, and going to restaurants.
While triplets do not run in her family, her mom knew that having triplets was a chance.
“We were IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), so my mom knew that that was a possibility,” said Sammi. “They told her she had three eggs so they could use all three at the same time.”
Once she was told she was going to have triplets, her mom was ecstatic.
“My mom said that she prayed for all three of us,” said Sammi. “How could you just pray for one?”
Both Sammi and Izzie’s names came from TV shows. Sammi’s name came from a TV show called “Las Vegas.”
“Actually it was my mom who picked it,” said Sammi. “It’s a spy show.”
Within her family, Sammi and her sisters were the first three to be born, but Sammi is the youngest of the three, following Caitlyn and Izzie.
In their big family, the girls also have a younger brother and sister.
Staying involved like the rest of her siblings, Sammi participates in the marching band with the color guard along with her sisters.
Sammi joined winterguard her freshman year, and her sisters followed her lead by getting involved in guard the next year.
“I joined and kept doing it because I thought it was so fun,” said Sammi. Together, the three of them do winterguard and colorguard, and Sammi has competed in seven seasons.
Sammi’s former colorguard coach Shane Durion recounts his favorite memory with her, where he is reminded of her being silly and having fun while choreographing one of the parts of last year’s winter guard shows.
“She always had fun,” Durnion told Spark. “All of those little memories make the moment happen.”
He also saw how Sammi was connected to the overall group and described her as open and charismatic.
“She talks to anyone, no matter who they are,” said Durion.
East senior Audrey Huynh, a good friend of Sammi’s and colorguard squad leader, talks about Sammi’s perseverance during the season.
“We’ve done guard together since freshman year,” Huynh told Spark. “We started hanging out more during our senior year.”
Huynh notes that Sammi has persevered throughout her time in color guard.
“Guard is never something that is easy when you start,” said Huynh. “Every year I see her, she grows even more, and she is always improving.”
Becoming closer with Sammi, Huynh said that it’s hard to pick one of her best qualities because she has so many.
“She’s very sweet, and always knows how to brighten your day,” said Huynh. “Even if it’s a little conversation with her or she compliments you, she always knows how to make you feel good.”
Captured through the lens of being a triplet, Sammi still remains her own person through her overflowing personality of love.
